Why Salt & Light

The Essence of Salt & Light

I love to use salt and try to capture light in my paintings, but the meaning of “Salt & Light” goes much deeper for me.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”
2 Corinthians 4:7, NLT

As for salt, I guess I just truly want to make a difference and leave a positive mark on the world.  Not be “flavorless”, but make a difference in whatever I’m doing.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.

Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.

Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”

Matthew 5:11-16
